I posted the comment below in response to Think Music blog.  Writing to former students during the summer (and school term too?) is a powerful tool for helping students retain and extend what they have learned.  My posted comment  "I admire teachers who prepare and send home with the students packets of work to keep the students current over the summer. You have taken this principle one very big step further. Bravo!"
